You recently returned from a holiday organised by a travel agency. The holiday was not a success – you had a lot of problems. Tell your friend about it and express your disappointment. Include:
- a description of what went wrong (journey, food, accommodation),
- an explanation of how this affected you,
- a request for compensation.
Teacher: You are sorry to hear about your friend’s bad experience. Show sympathy and try to support them.
Sample Role Play Dialogue
Teacher (friend): Hi! Welcome back! How was your holiday?
Student: Honestly, it was a disaster. The whole trip was nothing like I expected.
Teacher (friend): Oh no, what happened?
Student: First of all, the journey was terrible. The flight was delayed for six hours, and then the transfer bus to the hotel broke down.
Teacher (friend): That sounds awful! Did you at least get to the hotel safely?
Student: Yes, but when we finally arrived, the accommodation was terrible. The room was dirty, the air conditioning didn’t work, and the bathroom was full of mould.
Teacher (friend): That must have been so uncomfortable.
Student: It was! And to make things worse, the food was disgusting. It was always cold, and there was almost no choice. I expected fresh meals, but it was like eating leftovers every day.
Teacher (friend): I’m really sorry to hear that. How did you feel during the holiday?
Student: Honestly, I felt cheated. Instead of relaxing, I was stressed and exhausted the whole time. It completely ruined my holiday mood.
Teacher (friend): I can imagine. Are you going to complain to the travel agency?
Student: Yes, I definitely will. I’m going to write them a formal complaint and ask for compensation. I paid a lot of money, and I didn’t get what was promised.
Teacher (friend): That’s the right thing to do. You should explain everything in detail and demand at least a partial refund.
Student: Exactly. I want them to take responsibility, because I don’t want anyone else to have the same experience.
Teacher (friend): I hope they’ll listen to you and give you some money back. You deserve it after such a terrible holiday.
Student: Thanks, I really appreciate your support.
